Tuesday 23rd April
Result: Felsted won by 95 runs
Review: Felsted 157-4 (20 overs) (H. Hoare 61 ret’d, G. Hitchcock 22*, A. Jackson 33)
Wanstead 62 all out (11.2 overs) (G. Hitchcock 5/9, O. Squibb 2/15)
With Ashleigh Cox captaining the side, he also moved up to open the batting. However, it was his partner, Henry Hoare, who grabbed the initiative in a very breezy innings of 61 in 38 balls, before he retired to allow others time in the middle. Well supported by Alex Jackson (33), and George Hitchcock (22 not out), Felsted survived the loss of three quick wickets to post a very competitive 157.
When Wanstead came out hitting, and took 9 from the first over, it looked as though it would be a contest, but a remarkable spell of 5 for 9 from George Hitchcock ensured that there would be no upset. Wanstead enjoyed their afternoon’s cricket, but with Josh Wisbey adding a good catch and run out, and Ollie Squibb taking two wickets, the contest was soon over, and Felsted progress to the second round.
Player of the match: George Hitchcock
