1st XI National 20/20 competition Round 1

Saturday 28th April 2013

1st XI v Shenfield (H)
Shenfield 119-8
Felsted  122-0
Felsted Won by 10 Wkts

The first game to kick off this year’s National 20/20 competition was against Shenfield and although the fielding performance had room for improvement, the batting of Hebron (52) and Hussain (53) saw the XI pass the total comfortably in the 14th over.

Felsted Ramsay Group Man of the Match: Jack Hebro

1st XI v Ipswich (H)
Felsted 134-5
Felsted  129-7
Felsted Won by 5 Runs

Ipswich won their first game and it looked like this would be the key game of the day. It was a close affair and both teams could and should have done better. Felsted failed to capitalise on a good start with Hebron (50) again leading the way with some classy batting. The batting fell away, but a 6 of the last ball from Cox gave Felsted some momentum going into the field. Ipswich matched Felsted until the 15th over, when wickets started to fall and the rate lifted. Burns who had bowled well held his nerve in the last over, after Burslem had rescued the initiative (2-14) for Felsted.

Felsted Ramsay Group Man of the Match: Tommy Burslem

1st XI v St Joseph’s Ipswich
St Joseph’s 98 -8
Felsted  99-7
Felsted Won by 3 Wkts

All was going to plan when St Joseph’s closed on 98, when Felsted found themselves at 0-3 after a hat-trick in the first over of the reply. Hebron, Hunter-Jordan and Cox were the victims and the duck got passed quickly around as batsmen scuttled for pads. Foley who had bowled well all day steadied the ship and if it hadn’t been for some poor shot selection from Foley and Hoare (who had witnessed the hat-trick from the safety of the non strikers end, the game would have been over earlier. However, it was left for Hussain to see the side over the line with help from Kilpatrick and Burslem, who themselves didn’t want a red inker! The next round will be announced asap.

Felsted Ramsay Group Man of the Match: Jake Foley
