U15 A v Tonbridge

Saturday 20th April
Result: Tonbridge won by 7 wickets
Felsted 150-7 (30 overs) (H. Hoare 53, G. Hitchcock 22, A. Cox 44)
Tonbridge 151-3 (29.2 overs) (H. Hoare 2/37)

After last summer, it was a relief to finally get some cricket. Winning the toss and batting, George Hitchcock and Henry Hoare made a solid start, setting the foundation for a decent total. When Hitchcock was stumped, Ashleigh Cox came in to play an enterprising innings of 44 in just 45 deliveries, and we were on track for around 180. Unfortunately, the middle order fell away, and it was only thanks to Henry Hoare’s determined half century that we were able to reach 150.

After 8 overs, Tonbridge had stalled on just 11 for no wicket, and we seemed to be gaining control.  However, at this point, they took the attack to our bowling, and gained a momentum that they did not give up. Hoare did pick up two wickets, to give us some hope of success, but the victory in the end was comfortable.

Despite defeat, this was a decent first performance against a good side, and Felsted kept their heads up throughout.
