U15 A v Campion
29th April 2014
Result: Won by 8 wickets
Campion 84 for 6 (20 overs) (M. Gilham 2/12) Felsted 89 for 2 (7 overs) (J. King 41, E. Potter 20*)
This was a useful run out for the side, after the opening defeat to Bedford. All of the bowlers showed improved form, with Matt Gilham the most successful taking 2 for 12 in 3 overs. Campion's total was boosted by 21 extras, while number 3 Rogers battled through to finish on 30 not out. The target was soon put into context as Lucas and King set about the bowling with relish. King smashed 5 fours and 3 sixes in a brutal 41, while Lucas also hit a six, as they added 51 in less than 5 overs.
Potter then came in to finish things, taking 19 off one over. This win sees Felsted progress to round two of the Essex Cup.

U15 A v Bedford
26th April 2014
Result: Lost by 111 runs
Bedford 192 for 4 (30 overs) (T. Wilkes 2/22) Felsted 81 all out
This was a disappointing way to start the season, against a strong side from Bedford, who had enjoyed the benefits of a pre-season trip to Dubai, and were much more match sharpened than the Felsted side. All of the bowlers were rusty, delivering a series of short balls that the Bedford batsmen enjoyed on a good pitch. Two wickets at 46 and 48 gave the chance for a fightback, but all six Bedford batsmen who got to the crease looked good players, and a target of 192 was going to be a real challenge.
Will Buttleman (11) looked in good touch, and Archie Lucas (16) and Matt Morley-Jacob (15) both tried to build a partnership, but in the end Bedford were too strong on the day. Mike Barton (18) enjoyed a few big hits towards the end, but there is much to work on after this opening fixture.
